DF95 Travel Trophy Regatta Weekend at Estrella North Lake

The wind was forecast to dance with double digits Saturday afternoon (April 12), but boogied with singles instead, sometimes sitting out a dance, just to rest. Somehow, we managed to run 13 races over two days and come away with a tightly fought win for Craig Staiger: just a one-point difference over Jess Atkinson. Al Lehman, Jr., was third.

Sixteen skippers from Region 8 of the DF95 group competed, including five WVRCM members. The results are below.

Many thanks to the people who made it happen: Al Stiewing and Mike Eades for running the races, to Terry Kraus for liaison with Estrella (without which we wouldn’t have had a regatta) and for handling the lunch run, to Mike Fruciano for keeping us hydrated and for arranging the nice trophies, to Rod Sturgess for his ever-ready willingness to pitch in and help, and for Maryellen Ferring for picking up the slack wherever needed and keeping spirits high. What a crew!
