Survey of monthly meeting locations

For decades, WVRCM has met at a small lake in Litchfield Park, but the city has decided to require groups to pay $30/hour to use the lake, an amount our small club would have difficulty paying.

On January 15-17, 2025, we surveyed the attitudes and opinions of the membership to see what they thought of the various options for monthly meeting venue for the club.

Of the 20 respondents, about half are scale and half sail.

75% have participated at Litchfield and the response is favorable: 60% rate it “very good.” Looking at the breakdown, those are almost all scale people; sailors don’t like it much.

About half have been to Lake Gary and almost all are sailors. Two scale skippers rated Lake Gary and both said it was “poor.”

About half have been to Viewpoint Lake. The reaction to it is not positive, with only one person saying it was “good” and four each rating it “fair” or “poor.”

Understandably, only five had been to Sun Village. Two rated it “good,” two “fair,” and one (a sailor) “poor.”

All 20 have been to Estrella North and all rated it “good” or “fair.”

So… which would they choose if they could choose just one? 45% picked Litchfield Park; 30% picked Estrella North; the rest were scattered.

Conclusions? If Litchfield Park is not available, Estrella North is favored most among the remaining choices.
